Handeln, handeln, handeln! Sei nie mit dem ersten Preis des Verkäufers einverstanden! An jeder Ecke wird versucht überteuerte Ware an Touristen anzubringen. Hier könnt ihr problemlos 20 – 50 % vom Ausgangspreis runtergehen. Der Verkäufer macht dann eindeutig verständlich, dass es nun sein letzter Preis ist.

- Reiseapotheke: Für eine Marokkoreise reicht die übliche Reiseapotheke. Ich empfehle in afrikanischen Ländern immer etwas gegen Durchfallerkrankungen dabei zu haben, da uns Europäern oft auch das Klima auf den Magen schlägt. Ansonsten findet man an allen touristischen Orten, Städten und Hotels eine medizinische Versorgung oder Apotheken.
- Reisezeit: Für Rundreisen und Sightseeing empfehle ich den Frühling und den Herbst. In den Sommermonaten empfehle ich die Küste Marokkos für einen Badeurlaub, da es hier schon mal sehr heiß werden kann. Der Atlantik macht das Klima etwas erträglicher, als im Landesinneren.
- Reisedauer: Für eine Rundreise und Badeaufenthalt empfehle ich 2 – 3 Wochen für Marokko einzuplanen. Wer sich z. B. nur Marrakesch ansehen möchte, hat in 3 – 6 Nächten viel von der Stadt und der umliegenden Region gesehen.
- Reiseart: Ob auf eigene Faust mit dem Auto, geführt in einer Reisegruppe oder als Badeurlaub an der Atlantikküste – Marokko kann auf jede erdenkliche Art problemlos bereist werden.
- Kleidung: Marokko ist ein muslimisches Land, hier wird knappe Kleidung nicht gerne gesehen. Beachte, dass mindestens deine Schultern und Knie bedeckt sind. In den Hotelanlagen und am Strand gilt diese Regel nicht. Hier kann man genau so mit kurzem Kleid rumlaufen und im Bikini am Pool und Strand liegen. Beim Wandern im Atlasgebirge kann auch kurze Funktionskleidung problemlos getragen werden.
- Essen in Marokko: Das Nationalgericht „Tajine“ ist ein köstliches, in traditionellen Tontöpfen geschmortes Couscous Gericht. Es gibt verschiedene Arten der Zubereitung, ob mit Lammfleisch, Hünchen oder nur mit Gemüse. Ansonsten ist das marokkanische Essen ein tolles Geschmackserlebnis aus verschiedenen Gewürzen. Passend dazu wird süßer Minztee serviert.
- Geld: Kann man problemlos nach der Landung am Flughafen wechseln oder an einem ATM abgehoben werden. Ein Wechsel vorab Zuhause ist nicht nötig.
- Sprache: Die Hauptsprachen sind Arabisch und Französisch. Aber auch mit Englisch kommt man in Marokko gut über die Runden.
- Fahrerlaubnis: Die Anmietung eines Mietwagens ist in Marokko problemlos möglich. Für Tagesausflüge kann ich auch günstige Privattransfers ampfehlen.
- Andere Mentalität: Lass dich nicht stressen von den oft sehr lauten und aufdringlichen Verkäufern oder Restaurantbetreiber. Marktschreier sind im arabischen Raum Gang und Gebe und sind für uns Europäer oft sehr unangenehm. Am besten einfach ignorieren und weitergehen, wenn man in Ruhe gelassen werden möchte.
- Versicherung: Versicherung in nordafrikanischen Ländern ist empfohlen. Falls etwas schlimmeres passieren sollte, muss man eventuell in ein anderes Krankenhaus bzw. Privatklinik verlegt werden und es kann dadurch zu horrenden Kosten kommen.
- Sicherheit: Gut auf deine Handtasche/Rucksack aufpassen! Wie in jeder Großstadt ist auch hier die Gefahr beklaut zu werden hoch. Ignoriere unbedingt die Tipps von den “Möchtegern Reiseführern“ oder auch „Faux-Guides“ genannt. Diese Männer wollen nur an dein Geld kommen, indem sie dich in irgendeinen Shop eines Bekannten bringen oder dich in die Irre der Medina führen. Dann halten sie brav die Hand auf und wenn du ihnen nichts gibst, kann es auch durchaus zu lauten Auseinandersetzung kommen. Also dankend ablehnen oder einfach vorbeigehen und ignorieren.
- Notfall: Registriert euch kostenlos vor Abreise hier beim Außenministerium, damit in einem Notfall wie z. B. politischen Unruhen und Naturkatastrophen Hilfe geleistet werden kann.
