Wie? Wie Ihr wollt! Ob als Backpackertrip, Badeurlaub oder als geführte Rundreise. In Vietnam sind alle Arten von Reisen problemlos möglich. Man kann natürlich auch alles miteinander verbinden, indem man mit dem Rucksack unterwegs ist und vorab schon ein paar Hotels oder Ausflüge fix bucht.

- Visum: Ein E-Visum ermöglicht dir einen Aufenthalt von bis zu 30 Tagen in Vietnam. Dieses kannst du hier online um 25 USD beantragen. Man muss hierfür den Reisepass einscannen und ein Passfoto uploaden. Achtung! Der Reisepass muss hier noch 1 Monat länger als die Aufenthaltsdauer gültig sein. Reisende, die ausschließlich die Insel Phu Quoc besuchen und dort per Direktflug an- und abreisen, benötigen für einen Aufenthalt von bis zu 30 Tagen kein Visum.
- Impfung: Hierzu unbedingt vor Abreise das Tropeninstitut aufsuchen. In den verschiedensten Regionen kann es zu einer Übertragung von Tropen- und weiteren Krankheiten kommen. Die beste Vorkehrung einer Tropenkrankheit ist immer noch, nicht von Mücken gestochen zu werden! Daher gilt auch für Vietnam wie bei anderen asiatischen Ländern Mückenschutz mittels Sprays und langer Kleidung macht am meisten Sinn.
- Reiseapotheke: Lasst euch vor Abreise in der Apotheke gut beraten. In den Städten und Urlaubsgebieten findet ihr auch vor Ort gut ausgestattete Apotheken. Oft helfen die Medikamente besser bei Erkrankungen als die von uns mitgebrachten.
- Reisezeit: In Vietnam regnet es sehr häufig. Wenn man das ganze Land bereisen möchte, wird es kaum möglich sein einer Regenzeit zu entkommen. Von November bis Mai ist es im Norden etwas kühler mit wenig Niederschlag. Im Süden hingegen ist es das ganze Jahr über richtig heiß. Generell ist Vietnam das ganze Jahr über ein super Reiseziel! Am besten immer einen Regenschutz dabei haben.
- Reisedauer: In Vietnam gibt es viel zu entdecken. Von Nord nach Süd benötigt man mindesten 2 – 3 Wochen. Wenn man dann noch etwas am Strand relaxen möchte, benötigt man noch ein paar Tage länger. Falls man nur 2 Wochen Zeit hat, empfehle ich, sich entweder auf den Süden oder auf den Norden Vietnams zu konzentrieren.
- Kleidung: In Tempeln und an religiösen Orten sind Röcke, kurze Hosen und freizügige Tops verboten. Am besten immer einen Sarang/Tuch dabei haben um Schultern und Knie zu bedecken. Lange luftige helle Kleidung aus Leinen schützen dich vor Sonne und Moskitos.
- Essen: Das Nationalgericht ist die leckere Suppe namens „Pho“ mit ihren leckeren Einlagen aus Suppennudeln, Gemüse, Rindfleisch und frischen Kräutern. Aber auch das traditionelle Sandwich „Banh Mi“ und die knusprigen Summerrolls dürfen auf keiner Vietnamreise fehlen.
- Geld: In jeder etwas größeren Stadt gibt es viele ATM´s, an denen problemlos Geld abgehoben werden kann. In vielen Hotels und Restaurants werden auch Kreditkarten akzeptiert.
- Sprache: In Vietnam ist es nicht selbstverständlich, dass jeder Englisch versteht. Mit etwas Geduld, einem Lächeln auf dem Gesicht und ein wenig Talent für Pantomime, hab ich es immer noch geschafft das zu bekomme, was ich wollte.
- Fahrerlaubnis: Die wohl authentischste Methode das Land zu bereisen ist mit dem Moped. Allerdings benötigt man hierfür sehr gute Fahrkenntnisse und viel Mut. Denn ich glaube in keinem anderen Land der Erde gibt es so viele Roller und Verkehr, wie in Vietnams Städten. Die Anmietung eines Mietwagen ist hier etwas schwieriger, als in anderen asiatischen Ländern. Die Autos werden meist nur an einheimische Fahrer vermietet, da die chaotische Fahrweise in Vietnam oft zu Unfällen bei Touristen führt.
- Versicherung: Verreist nie ohne guten Reiseschutz, ich spreche aus Erfahrung. Es können hier horrende Kosten auf euch zukommen, falls etwas passieren sollte.
- Sicherheit: Vietnam ist grundsätzlich ein sicheres Reiseland. Man sollte allerdings in den Großstädten auf seine Handtasche Acht geben. Etwas auf seinen Hausverstand appellieren ist auch nicht verkehrt, daher dunkle, leere Gassen bei Nacht meiden. Vorsicht auch vor den Mopedfahrern, diese überholen gerne über den Gehsteig.
- Notfall: Registriert euch kostenlos vor Abreise hier beim Außenministerium, damit in einem Notfall, wie z. B. politischen Unruhen und Naturkatastrophen, Hilfe geleistet werden kann.
