Der wohl charmanteste Ort Vietnams
Die einst bedeutende Hafenstadt, die damals zu den wichtigsten und größten Handelsplätzen Südostasiens gehörte, ist heute ein „Must See“ bei allen Vietnamreisen. Die Altstadt ist vom Vietnamkieg fast komplett verschont geblieben und zählt seit den 1990ern zum UNESCO Weltkulturerbe.
Mein Tipp: Unbedingt die Reise so planen, dass man zum Vollmondfest (immer am Tag vor Vollmond) in Hoi An ist. Hier scheinen in den Gassen die schönen, handbemalten Lampions und am Fluss Thu Bon werden tausende, bunte Schwimmkerzen ausgesetzt, die dann langsam der Strömung entlang treiben.
Anreise & Verkehrsmittel
Von Da Nang Flughafen ca. 45 Minuten Fahrzeit entfernt. In der Stadt kann man sich problemlos zu Fuß oder mit dem Roller fortbewegen. Toll ist es auch die Stadt per Fahrrad zu erkunden, denn in der Altstadt sind zum Glück Mopeds und Autos verboten.
Sightseeing & Ausflüge
Um in die Altstadt zu gelangen, muss man sich ein Ticket kaufen, dieses kostet ca. € 5,00. Man hat hier fast alle Sehenswürdigkeiten inkludiert und es ist 10 Tage lang gültig.
- Quan Cong Temple: Dieser chinesische Tempel ist einem General zu ehren erbaut worden und ist heute noch fast gänzlich im Originalenzustand erhalten. Das Eingangstorwirkt sehr neumodern und kitschig, aber der Tempel selbst ist wirklich sehr schön und auf jeden Fall sehenswert.

- Japanische Brücke: Das Wahrzeichen der Stadt darf natürlich auch nicht fehlen bzw. man kommt auch gar nicht dran vorbei. Die Brücke verbindet das chinesische mit dem japanischen Viertel der Stadt und ist noch dazu auf dem 20 Dong Schein abgedruckt.
- Tan Ky Old House: Hierbei handelt es sich um eines der ältesten, traditionellsten Häuser der Stadt und beherbergt viel Kunst sowie Geschichte. Ein Guide ist sehr empfehlenswert, um die vielen Details von früher zu erfahren.
Unterkunft
Ein tolles, luxuriöses Hotel in perfekter Lage am Fluss gelegen ist das „Anantara Hoi An Resort“. Hier ist man zwar mitten in der Stadt, trotzdem findet man viel Ruhe zum Entspannen und eine erstklassige Küche. Alternativ gibt es kostengünstigere Hotels in und rund um die Altstadt.
Zwei Nächte in Hoi An reichen vollkommen aus, um alles gesehen zu haben. Daher finde ich die Kombi zwischen Strand und Stadt perfekt. Hierzu einfach ein tolles Hotel am 6 km entfernten Strand buchen. Das Four Season Hotel lässt jedes Luxus-Urlauberherz höher schlagen und das Palm Garden Resort, der der Preisbewussteren.
Restaurant & Shopping
Viele schöne Läden, mit oft selbst designter Kleidung reihen sich nacheinander. Aber eventuell macht man den ersten Stopp in einem Kaffeehaus und trinkt den landestypischen Ca Phe Trung – den Eierkaffe. Ja es handelt sich hierbei um einen Kaffee mit einem Ei drinnen – hört sich komisch an – schmeckt auch so. Ein Ei wird mit Zucker und Kondensmilch verrührt/geschlagen und als Topping auf den Kaffee gegeben – hat ein wenig was von Tiramisu, wie ich finde.
