Anreise
Mit dem Flugzeug ist man in gut 4 Stunden in Marrakesch. Vom Flughafen zur Unterkunft kommt man am einfachsten mit dem Taxi oder einem Shuttle-Transfer, die oft von Hotels kostenlos angeboten werden. Achtung Taximafia! Preis vor Fahrtantritt aushandeln, die genannten Preise sind zum Teil unverschämt teuer.
Ausflüge & Sightseeing:
Die Medina entdecken
Sobald man sich innerhalb der Stadtmauern der sogenannten Medina (Altstadt) befindet, hat man das Gefühl man ist mittendrin, im Märchen von „Aladdin und die Wunderlampe“. In den engen Gassen des „Souks“ reiht sich ein Geschäft nach dem anderen, wo das rege Treiben am späten Nachmittag am besten zu erleben ist. Hier drängeln sich die Einheimischen, Touristen und viele hupende Mopedfahrer durch schmale Gassen.
Vom Teppichgeschäft, zum Gewürzladen bis hin zum Fleischauer und dem Gemüsehändler wird hier alles verkauft bzw. lautstark gehandelt. Die tollen Gerüche, das rege Treiben und die orientalischen Bauten machen die Königsstadt Marrakesch zu einem ganz besonderen Ort, von dem man gar nicht genug bekommen kann.
Alle Wege führen nach Rom, aber nicht in Marrakesch! Hier führen Sie alle auf den großen Platz „Djemaa el Fna“. Daher Stadtplan wegpacken und einfach planlos durch die Altstadt schlendert. Es gibt hier an jeder Ecke immer wieder etwas Neues zu entdecken.
Am Djemma el Fna, dem zentralsten Punkt der Stadt, werden jeden Abend unzählige Essensstände aufgebaut. Hier kommen täglich die Einheimischen und auch Touristen hin, um sich durch die unzähligen Köstlichkeiten durchzuprobieren. Man bekommt außergewöhnliche Spezialitäten zu kosten, wie zum Beispiel gekochte Schnecken oder gegarten Schafskopf. Aber natürlich auch das Landesgericht „Tajine“. Es gibt auch unzählige Obststände, die verschiedene frischgepresste Säfte anbieten – einfach nur lecker!
Lasst euch auch nicht von den lauten Marktschreiern und den vielen Menschen, die euch bitten zu ihrem Stand zu kommen, verunsichern. Lehnt einfach dankend ab und geht zu dem Stand, der euch am meisten zusagt. Mein Tipp: Dort wo viele Einheimische sitzen, schmeckt das Essen auch sicher!
Am Platz tummeln sich viele Männer mit Affen und anderen Reptilien, wie z.B. Schlangenbeschwörer. Bitte gebt diesen Leuten kein Geld. Man unterstützt hier nur den Missbrauch eines Tieres. Den Schlangen werden beim lebendigen Leib die Zähne gezogen, damit falls doch mal eine entkommt, keiner gebissen wird. Die Affen werden in kleinen Käfigen und an der Leine alles andere als artgerecht gehalten. Tiere sollen Tiere sein und nicht in einem Fußballtrikot mit einer Fußfessel als Fotoobjekt arbeiten!

Unterkunft
Wer einen kurzen Städtetrip plant, unbedingt ein traditionelles Herrenhaus das sogenannte „Riad“ buchen. Von sehr einfachen, günstigen Unterkünften bis hin zu den luxuriösen 5-6 Sterne Riads gibt es hier eine sehr große Auswahl. Viele dieser Unterkünfte haben auch einen Pool und eine tolle Dachterrasse zum Entspannen. Trotz sehr zentraler Lage inmitten der Altstadt, bekommt man im Innenhof hier kaum etwas von dem Trubel außerhalb mit.
Wer einen längeren Aufenthalt in Marrakesch plant und neben dem Sightseeing auch am Pool etwas entspannen möchte, ist in der Gegend der Palmeraie sehr gut aufgehoben. Hier gibt es viele tolle Hotels mit großen Poolanlagen, die alle Annehmlichkeiten wie z.B. Wellness & Spa, Fitnessstudio, Golf und tolle Restaurants anbieten.
Restaurant
Hier habe ich persönlich leider keinen Tipp. Eine etwas ruhigere Atmosphäre, vor allem während des Sonnenuntergangs, hat man in den zahlreichen Dachcafés rund um den Djemma el Fna. Allerdings sind die Preise dort sehr hoch und die Portionen etwas kleiner als wie bei den Ständen am Platz. In der Nacht sollte man sich nicht alleine in den dunklen Gassen aufhalten, daher ein Restaurant suchen, wo mehr los ist.
